Youth Mission Trip to Bacone College

Pastor Kelly and the youth have returned safely from their Mission Trip to Bacone College in Muskogee, OK. Everyone had a great time, but more importantly, they were able to serve. Over the course of the week, they weeded a volleyball court, raked leaves out of a basketball court, and painted curbs and a hallway. But they didn't just work, they also grew as a group.

They learned more about the Native American cultures of the Five Civilized Tribes in Oklahoma, and the Trail of Tears and the devastation felt by the tribes that were forced to migrate from their homelands under the unconstitutional orders of President Andrew Jackson. They also laughed and shared together, attempted to basket weave, and got to experience life together on a college campus.

During the week, they used one passage of Scripture: John 13:1-17. This passage talks about Jesus washing His disciples' feet. They emphasized Jesus' service to His disciples and our need to follow His example. Most of us don't worry about why we serve God and other people, but they took time out to examine their reasons for serving as they served.
